Asperger's Syndrome and other autism spectrum disorders are challenges that some music students face. Aspects of this condition can prove to be difficult for music teachers, and some characteristics can be potential strengths, based on the propensity for people with Asperger's Syndrome and autism spectrum disorders to exhibit a singular focus for an activity such as music study. Be employing particular tactics when working with students with Asperger's Syndrome, teachers can provide students with an important educational experience and find for themselves a new skill set for teaching students both on and off the autism spectrum.

It is quite challenging to teach those kids or adults music with those kind of syndromes but there are people with those that they are great musicians.
I often heard that children with autism or asperger's syndrome learn to play piano well. They are very focused and musical.
I wonder how many professional piano players was autistic when they were younger.
It's funny how we classify certain things as "syndromes" or other maladies, especially when these conditions can produce artistry on a magnificent scale. Much like the diagnosis of ADHD and the like, I think we will begin to appreciate these abnormalities more as we study them. We can learn a lot from people who see the world differently than the "normal".
